As part of its U.S. store transformation plans, Starbucks is expanding its Pickup stores in dense markets while considering new uses for its dark store locations. Although temporarily dark, these sites still require routine maintenance and repair. However, without staff present, monitoring property conditions and addressing facility needs is difficult. Starbucks’ sites needed a way to get real-time visibility of its assets in transition. iVueit was chosen by their vendor to provide on-demand insight into its dark store locations for improved decision making.

Starbucks’ vendor requested that Vuers capture photos and record condition notes of the following areas: exterior entrance and all sides of the building; parking lot surfaces, drive-thru lanes, and parking stops; trees, shrubs, turf, mulch, weeds, dumpster enclosure, and doors; the interior of the café and any equipment as well as bathrooms and alarm systems. This blend of photographic verification and data is helping Starbucks sites better manage the upkeep of its dark stores, reduce regulatory risks, and comply with local ordinances.
