They Spent Years Talking About the Trip. Then They Asked One Question.

Shawn and Kevin packed up their RV, set out with their rescue dog, Tessa, and began a two-year adventure across America. Somewhere along the way, they found a side hustle that could travel with them.

Just Another Friday

Somewhere along the Oregon Coast, the next adventure was already waiting.

On a cool morning along the Oregon Coast, Shawn and Kevin were getting ready to board a historic steam train.

Tessa, their rescue dog and unofficial star of the trip, was coming too. That was nothing unusual. For more than a year, she had been along for nearly every mile, finding her way into oceans, lakes, waterfalls, and just about any other body of water she could reach.

The train would carry the three of them from Garibaldi to Rockaway Beach, where they would have a few hours to explore before riding back.

For most people, a day like this would be a vacation memory. For Shawn, Kevin, and Tessa, it was just another Friday on the road.

More than a year earlier, they had left their Florida home behind, climbed into their RV, and started a two-year journey across the country.

The Star of the Show

Tessa has been there for nearly every mile.

Shawn and Kevin have had Tessa for almost 10 years. They are not entirely sure what mix of breeds she is, but one thing is certain: she has fully embraced life on the road.

While Shawn and Kevin explore trails, coastlines, campgrounds, and small towns, Tessa has her own priority.

Find the water.

Oceans, lakes, ponds, waterfalls. If Tessa can get in it, she probably will.

What’s Holding Us Back?

The dream had been waiting for years.

Shawn and Kevin had talked about living on the road long before they finally left Florida.

After sending their son off to begin his military career, they bought a truck, purchased a camper, and started imagining what life could look like if they simply kept going.

Then life got busy. Work changed. They moved. Responsibilities piled up. The trip kept getting pushed further down the road.

Kevin retired in 2019. A few years later, Shawn and Kevin experienced the devastating loss of their daughter. Then, in early 2025, Shawn was laid off from work.

It was a painful reminder of something they already knew.

There may never be a perfect time to go.

Their son was building his own future. Kevin was retired. The camper was waiting. The dream was still there.

The Question That Changed Everything

“What’s holding us back?”

And Then They Went

Florida was only the beginning.

In May of 2025, Shawn and Kevin left Florida and headed north.

They followed the East Coast all the way to the tip of Maine, crossed through New England, explored Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, traveled south to Brownsville, Texas, spent the winter in Arizona, and eventually made their way toward the Pacific Northwest.

A year later, the line they have drawn across the country looks a little something like this.

Somewhere Along the Way

The country kept surprising them.

They watched the Northern Lights light up the sky in Louisiana.

They stood high enough in the mountains to watch bald eagles flying below them.

They walked sections of the Appalachian Trail, found sea glass on beaches, discovered waterfalls, watched sea lions along the Oregon Coast, and followed recommendations from strangers into places they never would have found on their own.

And Shawn had one very specific goal for Maine.

“My first goal was to eat my weight in lobster, and I did that successfully.”

The Part Instagram Doesn’t Show

Life on the road is still life.

Shawn will be the first to tell you that RV life is not one endless vacation.

There are laundry days. Flat tires. Repairs. Long drives. Campground logistics. Changing plans. And the occasional challenge of finding a site big enough for a 43-foot RV.

Sometimes they stay at full-hookup campgrounds. Sometimes they boondock on farms or business properties. Sometimes the next stop comes from a recommendation they heard around a campground.

The point was never to make every day feel like a vacation.

The point was to have more days together.

16 Years Together

The road gave them more of something they already valued.

Shawn and Kevin recently celebrated their 16th wedding anniversary.

More than a year of near-constant travel might test some couples. For Shawn and Kevin, it has reinforced something they already knew.

“We have more fun together than we do apart.”

Then Facebook Showed Her Something

Shawn was skeptical at first.

Like most people scrolling Facebook, Shawn had seen plenty of ads promising easy money and unrealistic results.

Then she came across iVueit.

She downloaded the app, looked around, and noticed something interesting. There was a Vue practically right where they were staying in Oregon.

Shawn had not even mentioned the app to Kevin yet.

Then she did.

They went out, completed the Vue, and kept going.

A Side Hustle That Travels

iVueit did not change the route. It fit into the route they were already taking.

That is what stood out to Shawn.

They were already exploring Oregon. Already moving from town to town. Already driving through places where a Vue might be waiting.

Completing a Vue did not have to mean rearranging their entire day. It could simply become another stop along the way.

Vues Along the Route

As Shawn and Kevin travel, nearby Vues can fit naturally into places they are already passing through.

“The money we make from iVueit helps supplement some of those extracurricular activities on the road.”

A scenic train ride.

A farmers market.

An aquarium.

A concert, race, or local experience that was not originally part of the budget.

The little extras that turn a stop on the map into a memory.

What Makes Shawn a Vuer

The same skills that keep the trip moving also show up in every Vue.

Shawn has already completed 49 Vues with a 100% Vuer rating and reached Elite status. The same habits that keep life on the road moving also show up in the way she approaches every assignment.

1

Pay Attention

Details matter when every stop, photo, and instruction has a purpose.

2

Be Flexible

Plans change on the road. Shawn knows how to adapt and keep moving.

3

Follow Through

Whether it is a travel day or a Vue, the goal is simple: show up and do it right.

One Year Down

Plenty of road still lies ahead.

Shawn and Kevin are only about halfway through the two-year adventure they originally planned.

Glacier National Park is still ahead.

Yellowstone.

Grand Teton National Park.

Cheyenne.

And the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, where they plan to crew for a hot air balloon.

There are also stretches they have not planned at all.

Somewhere between one destination and the next, they will talk to people they meet, follow a recommendation, discover another trail, or change direction entirely.

Sometimes the best parts are the ones you did not know to plan for.

Shawn found her first Vue while she was already on the road. Open the app, see what is nearby, and find a Vue that fits wherever your day is already taking you.
