As a veteran in the facility management industry, our CEO Mike Popadak understands the difficulty of managing multi-site facilities from afar. That’s why he created iVueit. But it doesn’t stop with the app. He has a passion for technology and an ongoing mission to provide support and share ideas with facility managers and others across the industry.
Recently, Mike was interviewed by Bill Yanek, CEO of Connex, for The Daily Grind, a livestream show that explores best practices and new solutions for facility managers during the pandemic. Their discussion centered on visual verification tools.
Below is an excerpt from the interview.
What are some tools available to FMs that are unable to physically inspect their facilities?
Even before the pandemic, visual verification technology was at the forefront and helped to improve connectivity. With the new environment, however, that technology has exploded out of necessity. Facility managers need to understand and tackle issues with their properties, yet many have limited visibility and are restricted from travel. Fortunately, they have access to a robust toolbox including apps, work-order management systems, sensors, and RFID chips. Robots and drones are becoming more prevalent inside the store as well.
Why is on-demand verification so important for facility managers?
Technology has proven that almost anything is possible on-demand and now there’s no going back. On-demand is an expectation in virtually every area of life. For facilities management, visual verification can speed up productivity and help facility managers implement proactive plans. Dark stores, in particular, greatly benefit from this technology. For example, if there is a leak, the cost to repair the damage is much less expensive if the leak is discovered within days as opposed to within months.
What advice do you have for FMs?
Continue to utilize industry and social networking platforms to make connections and discover what others are doing. Sharing of information is at an all-time high and colleagues are eager to bounce ideas off one another and assist each other. It is also important to monitor and verify that your open facilities are compliant with new health and safety measures and that they continue to adhere.
Ultimately, we all have to do our best to navigate the new normal. It’s not easy, but iVueit can help keep you connected and get you the information you need quickly to successfully manage your facilities through the pandemic and beyond.
